Modi says India, UAE will cooperate to fight terrorism

India and the United Arab Emirates will be in the fight against terrorism, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a virtual summit with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday. Our business will grow from $60 billion to $100 billion over the next five years.”

The Prime Minister also praised the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its interest in investing in Jammu and Kashmir. “Following the successful visit of the Deputy Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to the UAE last month, several Emirati companies have expressed interest in investing in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. “We welcome the UAE’s investment in all sectors including logistics, healthcare and hospitality in Jammu and Kashmir,” Modi added.

The prime minister said the two sides can promote start-ups through joint incubation and joint funding, adding that there is also room for cooperation in developing people’s skills. At the summit, the two sides also articulated a vision statement outlining the future direction of the bilateral relationship and highlighting the priorities of both sides.
In the vision statement, the two sides agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation to maintain regional peace and security.

Abu Dhabi, with a particular focus on logistics and services, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, agriculture, agri-tech, steel and aluminium. Regarding the energy partnership, the vision statement states that cooperation will be established to meet India’s energy needs, including new energy sources, and ensure affordable and secure energy supply for India’s growing economy.

The two sides also reaffirmed their shared commitment to combat all forms of extremism and terrorism, including transnational terrorism, at the regional and international levels. It is also related to work on special investment zones for Emirati companies and joint ventures, notably the establishment of a food corridor and a special Indian market in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. It will also create investment opportunities for Indian investors by establishing a dedicated high-tech industrial zone.
