Forecasters at the UAE National Meteorological Center are also expecting showers and thunderstorms to hit parts of the country, with moderate to heavy showers expected.
This led to a warning from the UAE Ministry of Interior, which said on Twitter: “As several parts of the country are exposed to fluctuating weather conditions with heavy rain and high winds, please use caution while driving to avoid valleys and water currents .”
On Sunday, the rain is expected to have mostly passed, although there may be scattered showers during the day.
This comes after days of rain in recent weeks – with 2022 one of the wettest years on record.
Downpours last July forced the UAE to grapple with flooding as it recorded its wettest weather in decades, killing many, displacing nearly 2,000 and submerging homes and buildings.
