Mosimane faces ‘fickle’ employers after latest management move

[ad_1]

Pitso Mosimane faces a new challenge at his new club under a fickle boss.

Pitso Mosimane has found a new job on the border with Saudi Arabia after a successful spell with Al Ahli FC but he will face unstable bosses.

Mosimane has enforced the rules at Al Ahli Saudi since September 2022 and has brought the club back to the Saudi Pro League, with Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) and Karim Benzema (Al Ittihad) set to provide opposition.

The 58-year-old doubled his promotion by lifting the Saudi Arabian Second Division title.

However, instead of triggering the option to renew his contract (which came with a promotion condition), Mosimane found himself snubbed and left Al Ahli following a 19-7-3 record in Al Ahli and taking the club from where he found them. Seven promoted to the top of the standings.

Mosimane has now packed his bags to join Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates Pro League.

The news of Bafana’s former coach was announced on Saturday night amid interest from Tunisian giants Esperance, Nigeria and two other clubs in the United Arab Emirates.

At Al Wahda, Mosimane will succeed Arno Buitenweg, who has been in caretaker mode since replacing Spaniard Manolo Jimenez in March.

Al Wahda, who finished third last season, has changed coaches eight times in the past three years, with Biutenweg, Jimenez (twice), Carlos Carvalhal, Gregory Dufrennes, Henk 10 Cate, Vuk Rasovic and Mark Wotte all calling the shots.

None of their coaching tenures has lasted more than two years since Javier Aguirre coached from 2015 to 2017.

Aguirre now coaches Spanish La Liga club Mallorca La Liga.

Back in 2010, Al Wahda put former Brazil coach Tite in charge for seven weeks.

The Abu Dhabi-based club have previously won the UAE Championship four times and are regulars in the Asian Champions League.
