Most UAE firms bullish on new market entry despite fears of global recession – News

Despite fears of a possible global recession and talk of the end of globalisation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, businesses in the UAE appear to remain bullish on their plans for further global expansion, new findings from an annual survey of technology decision makers have revealed.

Of the UAE IT decision makers surveyed in Equinix’s 2022 Global Technology Trends Survey, 93% said their organization plans to fully expand into a new region (66%), a new country ( 47%) or new cities (43%).

The survey found that 48% of IT decision makers in the UAE planning to expand are most likely to deploy virtually in the short term and then establish permanent physical infrastructure in new markets, while 44% said they would support expansion using existing teams. While 86% of UAE technology decision makers will accelerate the pace of innovation, digitize business and move IT infrastructure to the digital edge as a top priority in their organization’s technology strategy, 59% of them say they plan to put more business functions Migrate to the cloud.

When it comes to global growth, companies have identified a number of potential constraints, with supply chain challenges highlighted as an area of ​​particular concern, the survey report said. About 59% of IT decision makers surveyed globally said their business was plagued by global supply chain issues and shortages, while 58% said a global microchip shortage was a threat to their business.

Two-fifths (40%) of UAE respondents said they plan to facilitate global expansion plans through virtual deployments in the cloud, with bare metal solutions (37%) being used, according to the report.

“The pandemic also continues to have a significant impact on businesses’ digital strategies. More than half of UAE IT leaders (53%) say they are accelerating the digitalisation of their companies due to the Covid-19 crisis.
