Motilal Keshavdas-Building Fleetroot Last Mile technology with Kaizen

Motilal Keshavdas is the Co-Founder and CTO of Fleetroot. He is the brain behind the technology used in Fleetroot platforms.  The platform also has social media presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Motilal Keshavdas constantly challenges himself and his team to develop new ideas and improvements. It helps Fleetroot customers to address their key business challenges in logistics.

Motilal Keshavdas and his team are mobility domain experts with extensive DevOps experience. From transforming ideas to solution offerings to implementing and designing with global standards in mind, they give the backbone to the technology used in our software solutions. Customers will find Fleetroot more interactive and straightforward thanks to the technology stack and a great user experience.

Let’s hear more about Fleetroot in the words of Motilal Keshavdas.

What are your goals?

By 2023, we aim to onboard 500+ new businesses in the GCC and establish ourselves as a leading logistics platform provider in the region. We also assist our clients in delivering products and services at lightning speed to their customers using our technology.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?

Each of us at Fleetroot is loyal to the idea of bringing true value to the Fleetroot customer community while assisting in automating their last-mile mobility operations to deliver amazing and tangible results. We have an extremely bright team with over 50+ years of combined expertise in logistics, technology, and mobility experience.

What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?

Our story began in 2018. Back then, it was only a few of us specializing in project-specific mobility and technology domain and serving the most demanding customer transportation problems in the MENA region, one project at a time. We saw the necessity of a simpler solution that could tackle even bigger problems in the mobility industry. With this experience, we started stitching our proprietary transportation SaaS platform to tackle the bigger problems in mobility.

We, as specialists, evolved over time along with our technology platform growth. We integrated all facets of the mobility ecosystem into a single, seamless technology solution that’s capable of connecting, orchestrating, and automating the last mile of moving people, goods, and mobility services.

Why did you start (or want to be the head of) this company?

We saw an opportunity to simplify transportation with the rapidly changing logistics sector and customer expectations, and that’s where it all began. We also believe our technology should be accessible to companies of all sizes.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Building a world-class logistics SAAS platform to assist any business in streamlining the transportation of people, goods, and services. Large fleet companies generate a big percentage of their revenue by optimizing their logistics and fleet operations, and we assist them in increasing their ROI, and for SMEs, Last-Mile optimization is essential for their growth.

Give us one word that describes you the best.

Focused!

What makes you excited about Mondays?

Every Monday, I look forward to catching up with our back-end and operations team on their plans for the working week, improvements, and ideas. I get excited with these meetings as every so often. We stumble upon a new feature, new idea, or a feedback suggestion from our client that contributes to making our software products more useful for our clients.

What do you value most about your culture and vision?

Our mission is to innovate and earn the trust of our existing customers and create an environment that invites new companies to join our client community.

In addition, our essential principles have remained the same: stay humble, adaptive, passionate, and upbeat about our work. This has been accompanied by fantastic partners and even more zeal, all of which will help to shape the future of Fleetroot.

Tell us about a project that forced you to be innovative and creative.

When things that happen, happen in 2020, just like most of the world, our team has faced the new realities and new challenges to maintain sales momentum, increase order volume and margins, and meet our KPIs. We could only evolve and rediscover our strength as a team and company.

With that said, we also saw an opportunity to rise to the challenge as we observed a compelling problem and trend toward on-demand delivery as a solution, so we shifted our focus to make our logistics optimization solutions to be more accessible to anyone regardless of their whereabouts, welcoming anyone who would benefit from our last mile solutions.

What are the strategies of your company, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?

We aim to assist our customers in automating their last-mile mobility operations, resulting in extraordinary outcomes.

Our primary strength is our ability to respond to the evolving logistics market by providing our customers with a unified logistics and fleet visibility solution that maximizes their on-demand and milk-run deliveries while keeping costs under control.

What are the key values which helped you to overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career? Tell us something about your memorable incident in your leadership?

Perseverance. One of the things I value in our company is our people. Even in the initial stages, we were blessed with the people of character in our team who helped us overcome the great challenges.

The same people have been with us since, bringing a positive attitude towards changing business landscape and scale and are always humble to listen and understand our customers and management on every occasion.

My most memorable moment was when we were interviewing a young girl for a junior support specialist. She outshined everyone else by a mile with her spirit and will to work. We were honestly astonished. She refused to be intimidated by any challenges and sacrifices that would come with this job post. This memory has flourished since now that we see this person grow together with the company and heading the Customer success team today.

How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?

I am humbled by the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with outstanding people in our field all across the world. For example, I had multiple brainstorming sessions with clients from Brazil and Malaysia in the last three months. These cultures are quite literally continents apart. In my opinion, this is the definition of building perspective.

In the next two years, I plan to see Fleetroot software solutions serving customers across four continents. Sometimes I get the feeling that it might just be another dream of mine, but then I go on a call with people in totally different time zones in either direction, thus realizing that it is already happening.

Our expansion plan and entering the global arena give me the environment to grow as a specialist just to keep up with our product journey. I am excited to see where it will take me as an individual and specialist.

Where is your leadership going? What benefits do your clients get from your company in this competitive world?

I personally believe in perspective and that there is always more than one way of a solution you can have for a common problem. This also extends to our own leadership, one of the things we are

“We assist our partners and customers in increasing the return on investment (ROI) on their logistics and fleet operations, improving the end-user experience, and accelerating revenue and growth.”

I believe we stand out by having mixed DNA in the core software. Most of our developments are customer-driven, which means that we are providing a solution that accumulates customers’ ideas and requirements, thus making it “by the people, for the people.” Our client community contributes to the solution they are using from us, thus making it unique to their needs.

We have found our own rhythm when working in saturated markets. We address both solutions in one interface by merging two of the most common yet separate solutions in connected operations and the last mile. This is useful for our clients since it allows them to enhance their operations while staying in the same software environment.

What are the services/solutions or products offered by your company on par with the current industry standards? Tell us something about your upcoming products or services?
