MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks were honored with the Big Brand of the Year award at the 2023 Shorty Awards in New York City on Wednesday (May 24). Awarded to the company with the most overall wins in the competition, the award “recognizes the best talent and organizations in social media and digital.”
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, which aired on August 28, took home two awards – multi-platform presentation and live event coverage. The 2022 MTV EMA, which aired on November 13, won audience honors for localization and a gold award in the aforementioned live event coverage category. Finally, “The Daily Show – Police Chases in Car Commercials” won in the vertical video category. All are produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Network.
The Shorty Awards recognize the most innovative work in digital and social media by organizations of all industries and sizes, as well as individual ideas and creators from around the world. Entries were judged on the merits of creativity, strategy and engagement by the Real Time Academy, an organization of industry experts and leaders.
The winners and other honorees of the 15th Shorty Awards are divided into 148 categories. “Billboard Music Awards + TikTok: From Sound to Song,” produced by Dick Clark Productions and TikTok, won Gold in the Microsite category. “The 94th Academy Awards Red Carpet Portrait Studio: A Collaboration with People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly,” produced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, won Gold in the Image category.

Additionally, a new Creator Fund was announced in partnership with money management firm Wave. The Elevate Creatives Fund aims to provide financial support to creators looking to grow a sustainable business; an initial $100,000 grant will be distributed among five grantees, who will also receive bookkeeping and accounting guidance from Wave’s in-house experts. Applications are open on the Shorty Awards website from now until September 15th. Winners will be announced in November.
Eligible applicants include creators of commercial, editorial and/or fine art digital content, such as social media or blog posts, podcasts, videos and short films, and freelance creatives or independent consultants, such as designers providing creative services, writers Contributors and Producers. These applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts at Real Time Academy based on the following criteria: originality and creativity of current and recent work; quality, engagement and effectiveness of recent work; their entrepreneurial aspirations; and how they Use your creative platform and reach to make a positive impact.
