President Museveni has invited His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, to visit Uganda.
Abdalla Hassan Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Uganda, conveyed the UAE ruler’s Greetings from President Seveni.
Ambassador Abdullah Hassan informed Museveni that his invitation to his Emirati counterpart to participate in Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations on October 9, 2023 had been delivered.
“We are delighted to host him here,” President Museveni said.
Ambassador Abdullah also conveyed the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE, to President Museveni to attend COP28 in the UAE this November.
At the same meeting, Museveni received praise from Uganda as the best investment destination in East Africa and a top ten in Africa.
Uganda won the gold award through its Investment Authority on May 9 after beating six other countries to become East Africa’s top investment destination for 2022.
It was during the 2023 Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) in Abu Dhabi, where more than 170 countries attended to exhibit and lobby for investment.
Abdalla Hassan Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Uganda, with Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Privatization and Investments, and the Uganda Investment Authority team In his presence, a certificate of honor was presented to President Museveni.
Ambassador Abdalla Hassan Al Shamsi and his visiting delegation from Sharjah, UAE thanked Museveni for the hospitality extended to them during his stay in Uganda and the opportunity to visit various tourist attractions including Kidepo National Park.
“Let His Highness come and see. I have been to Dubai and Abu Dhabi many times. It would be great if your people could come too,” Museveni said.
Minister Anite informed the President that the recognition was due to his efforts to encourage the continuity of trade and manufacturing during these difficult times in the COVID-19 era.
“We presented you with our guidance on how to attract investment and one of the companies we presented to the UAE was the Njeru Modern Tile Factory you commissioned. We also presented the production of sanitizers and we became the first in the whole of East Africa name,” Minister Annit said, adding that a similar assessment by the African Development Bank ranked Uganda among the ten best investment destinations in Africa.
The theme for the 2023 Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) is “Investment Paradigm Shifts: Future Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth, Diversity and Prosperity”.
