Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, confirmed that women should have more opportunities to give full play to leadership and practice in any role they aspire to.
He added that women must have access to high-quality education, valuable careers, a satisfying family life, and a prominent role in public and private life.
He also pointed out that men and women still have a lot of work and efforts to build a world of equality between men and women, a world that values abilities and values regardless of gender, and a world that welcomes, protects, educates, and empowers all women.
This was held during the opening of the International Conference on “Tolerance and Inclusiveness for Women’s Empowerment” organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in collaboration with the UAE Gender Balance Commission and the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The conference consisted of two sessions. The first discussed the role of social norms in closing the gender gap and ways to instill values of tolerance and coexistence. The speakers were British Baroness Floyla Karen Eunice Benjamin and Swiss International Committee of the Red Cross President Peter Maurer, while Benita Diop, founder and chairman of the Senegal African Women’s Solidarity Foundation, introduced her experience in empowering women. The second session emphasized the importance of tolerance, coexistence, tolerance and equality in supporting the most vulnerable groups in rebuilding a stable society. “I fully agree with the purpose of this conference, especially its aim to build a bridge between men and women around the world around women’s rights and empowerment,” he added.
Sheikh Nahyan (Sheikh Nahyan) said at the end of the speech: “I hope that your work, as well as the work of well-meaning men and women around the world, will lead to the renaming of future conferences.
