UAE IDs have received some major security upgrades. From September 2022, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) will begin issuing a new generation of UAE passports.
Residents have started to receive upgraded Emirates ID cards, which have many advanced features.
Both documents are part of the “New Generation UAE Passports and National IDs Project” which will be launched in June 2021.

>> Identification pages are made of polycarbonate, not paper. This increases the efficiency of professional prints backed by photos and security markings characterized by thickness to prevent damage.

New Emirates ID
>> Strengthen the protection of invisible data.
>> Advanced technology and process features such as higher chip capacity and non-touch data reading capabilities.
>> High quality card with longer lifespan. Polycarbonate has a lifespan of more than 10 years.
>> Integrated 3D photo, laser printable, with date of birth authentication.
>> Additional fields for professional data, issuing agency and population codes.
