Abu Dhabi: Four evacuation planes carrying 253 nationals from various countries have arrived in the UAE over the past two days from Sudan, where conflict has erupted since mid-April, bringing the total number of aircraft arriving from Sudan to nine.
The UAE has prioritized the evacuation of the most vulnerable, including the sick, children, the elderly and women.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) confirmed the success of the evacuation operation, which was carried out by the UAE as part of its humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthen global cooperation and solidarity, continuing its humanitarian approach based on serving civilians Provide protection and facilitate assistance and assistance to the nation when needed.
The ministry affirmed the UAE’s commitment to work with its partners and the international community to achieve all that is in the interest of the Sudanese people, emphasizing the intensification of efforts aimed at a ceasefire, restoration of the political framework and dialogue, and advancement of the transitional phase to achieve the desired political stability in Sudan and safe.
After the evacuees evacuated and remained in the city of Port Sudan, the UAE continued to provide shelter and care services for the evacuees. In addition, the UAE has hosted nationals from some 26 different countries after the evacuation on those planes, which have carried 997 people since April 29. All necessary care is provided in the UAE before returning to their home country.
