NYU Abu Dhabi‘s Institute launched its 15th season, titled “A Series of Wonder and Reflection,” with a focus on the environment. This season will encompass a series of discussions and conferences aimed at addressing the urgent environmental changes in the region while promoting international collaboration and drawing inspiration from the past for future sustainability.
The events will feature influential figures from various fields such as politics, economics, and law. In anticipation of COP28, NYUAD Visiting Professor of Business, Organizations, and Society, Barbara Scheck, will lead a panel discussion titled “Sustainable Finance Towards Climate Action,” featuring experts from the finance sector. The discussion will explore sustainable finance in the UAE and the role of banking institutions in leading green finance efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set for COP28.
Vice Chancellor of NYUAD, Mariët Westermann, will moderate a conversation between Executive Artistic Director at The NYUAD Arts Centre, Bill Bragin, independent editor Nadine Khalil, and curator, critic, and photographer Waleed Shah.
Senior Director of the Institute and Professor of Literature and Arab Crossroads at NYUAD, Maurice Pomerantz, commented on the season’s launch, stating, “We aim to delve into how the rapid and pressing environmental changes are compelling leaders to develop innovative, long-term strategies across diverse fields. These stories inspire us and prompt us to reflect on the narratives we construct about ourselves and our world.”
