She’s had some big things in her past – winning Miss Universe, dating Nick Jonas – but at 23, thanks to her love of fashion and success on social media, it feels like Olivia Culpo is about to become famous for being herself .
The fashion moderator, who has over a million followers on Instagram, manages it herself on Saturday, November 14. his model.
“There are so many things I want to do,” Culpo, wearing a Mugler outfit, said in an interview Thursday. “What I don’t want to do, might be better questions. From fashion to performance to beauty—there’s nothing I’m afraid to try, and there’s nothing I haven’t tried. It’s watching which doors continue to open.”
But her main focus is clearly style, and she hopes not only to design her own collections, but also to bring Emirati designers to the US. When she arrived on Wednesday, she saw some of Orkalia’s work. “That’s one of the things I’m really excited about being here, is to check out the designers. I’d love to work with them too. It’s one of the things I’ve been looking at.
“I would love to do a capsule collection with people from Dubai. I think there are a lot of talented people here, but they haven’t quite crossed over to the US, Europe, and it will be exciting to be able to help. It’s just time for one of those explosions question.”
The biggest Culpo story of the day—covered in the US fashion press—was her new bob cut, which was a stark departure from her flowing beauty-queen look. “I just wanted a change. My hair was getting shorter, so who knows what’s going to happen next, maybe I’ll go for a shorter hairstyle. Before the bob, the shortest thing you could do was a pixie cut, So maybe that will be my next one.”
She lost her Miss Universe hair — but does she still feel like a beauty queen?
“I think the different seasons of life are normal for anyone, but does my bob work then? I don’t think so.”

QUICKFIRE STYLE WITH OLIVIA CULPO
What are you looking forward to wearing this fall and winter?
Camel, whether it’s a jacket or a shoe, I just love that very rich brown, caramel camel. It’s something you can wear in the spring, but I think fall is the best time to look, with colors like maroon, navy, and olive green.
Are you shopping in a physical store or online?
I’m more of an in-store person because I want to see quality and consider it with other things that you can’t get online. Then I also like to pick things that I can wear next year, the year after, and the year after.
Which designers do you have in your closet?
I love Saint Laurent. I really love Victoria Beckham, her pieces are classic yet modern and sophisticated. I also like her personal style.
Have a million people follow you on Instagram for fashion inspiration. who do you follow
The one I like to follow is Chiara [Ferragni], golden salad. Not necessarily because I have the same style as her, but I do enjoy seeing what pieces she puts together. She’s always trendy and she’s adventurous, so I love seeing what she’s wearing. She’s actually always posting too. Another account I like to follow is Net-a-Porter because they put together daily outfit inspiration. They never stop.
