Bassett was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

She is the first actress to be nominated for a Marvel movie.

Bassett was last nominated for Best Actress for the 1994 Tina Turner biopic “What Has Love To Do?”

Although she’s been acting since the late ’70s, this year marks the first time Jamie Lee Curtis has been nominated for an Oscar. She admitted to Parade that she was “very shocked” to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in Everything Everywhere All On Once. “I’m 64 years old. I’ve been an actor since I was 19,” she told AP Entertainment. “I’ve done horror movies, I’ve sold yogurt. I never thought I’d hear my name at the Oscars.”

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023 in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
