Painting to be dedicated to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church | Entertainment / Lifestyle

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church at 12663 Perkins Road will hold a bilingual Mass on Sunday at 7 p.m., blessing the Virgin of Guadalupe and dedicating a large painting of the Virgin Mary.

This painting is from an anonymous donor,

Created by Baton Rouge artist Mark Biletnikoff.

The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on December 12th every year.

All are welcome to attend the service.

downtown pilgrimage is sunday

The annual Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage begins Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 356 East Avenue.

Participants will walk together to several downtown churches, listening to Christmas music at each church.

The schedule also includes:

  • 6 p.m., First United Methodist Church
  • 6.30pm, First Presbyterian Church
  • 7 p.m., St. Joseph’s Cathedral
  • 7.30pm St James’ Anglican Church
  • 8 p.m., First Baptist Church

annual christmas concert

Cory Stewart & Authentically Anointed will present their annual Christmas Concert Sunday at 6pm at the Debbie Allen Theater of the Performing Arts at the Louisiana Leadership Academy, 5763 Hooper Road.

This event is free and open to the public.

Beyond the concert, there are a number of managed care organizations that can provide information on mental health and grief as families deal with the aftermath of COVID as the second holiday season approaches.

First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd., will host a Christmas music program from Baton Rouge chapter Sweet Adelines Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the church’s conference center.

Lunch will be served after the show for $8.Reservations can be made via email care@firstmethodist.org.

‘jingle in the city’

Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, will present “Jingle in the City,” a play set in 1940s New York, Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 pm.

The musical will feature a 30-foot-tall living Christmas tree with thousands of lights; more than 100 actors and a live orchestra; a beautiful Nativity story told and more.

This event is free and open to the public.
