Rawalpindi: Pakistani consulate in Dubai has informed Islamabad that Pakistanis visiting Dubai should have valid work visas, AED 5,000 and a return ticket when they travel to the UAE.
In a letter to the foreign ministry on Saturday, the consulate said the passengers had been refused entry for various reasons and urged the ministry to educate Pakistani passengers seeking work in the UAE to obtain appropriate work visas.
It said passengers should have a valid visa return ticket and Dh5,000 when travelling to the UAE. After receiving inquiries from passengers at Dubai Airport, consulate staff went to the airport to find that UAE immigration authorities had blocked about 80 Pakistanis from entering the country for a variety of reasons.
80 Pakistanis deported for fake return tickets, visit visas, lack of cash
Of the deported citizens, 40 returned to Pakistan on the same flight to Dubai, while the remaining half returned on various available flights.
The UAE Immigration Department said Pakistani citizens were deported because they had visitor visas instead of work visas, fake return tickets and insufficient cash to survive in the United Arab Emirates.
Most of the deportees reportedly informed UAE immigration authorities that they had come to work in the UAE on visitor visas.
The Pakistani delegation stated that it had asked the UAE immigration authorities to allow Pakistani passport holders with valid visas to enter the UAE, but was informed that entry for these passengers had been denied for the reasons mentioned above.
UAE authorities said they should all have valid return tickets and at least Dh5,000 in cash.
