Passengers traveling to the UAE must declare currency, valuables exceeding Dh60,000

UAE authorities say there is no cash limit for passengers, but any amount over Dh60,000 must be declared

All passengers entering or leaving the United Arab Emirates with any other currency, financial assets, precious metals or gemstones exceeding Dh60,000 or its equivalent must declare to customs officials, harrij times reports.

According to the report, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security issued a reminder to passengers that all passengers must follow the customs procedures stipulated in the customs law to ensure safe travel.

Authorities reiterated that there is no cash limit for travelers traveling to and from the UAE, but any amount over Dh60,000 must be declared.

Under the UAE’s disclosure regime, each family member over the age of 18 is entitled to carry an amount not exceeding Dh60,000 or its equivalent in foreign currency without disclosing it to the customs officer when entering or leaving the country.

However, the report added that it would be necessary to disclose any amount of cash exceeding the aforementioned limit through the “Afsah” system or other disclosure systems approved by the country’s border crossing points.

In addition, the cash and other valuables carried by passengers under the age of 18, including children and teenagers, shall be included in the limit of their parents or accompanying adult family members.

The agency further said that it has launched an online system to disclose cash and other financial instruments or precious metals of precious stones through the ICA website and its smart mobile application, enabling travelers to easily complete the disclosure process and register from anywhere in a short period of time Their data minutes before and during their trip.

The report further stated that the move is to provide safe and comfortable travel to and from the UAE.
