Paulina Porizkova is preparing to visit Long Island. On March 5, the former supermodel will take the stage at the Huntington’s Cinematic Arts Center, where she will talk about her new book, No Filter: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful. The event is hosted by Long Island LitFest.

Published by Maria Shriver’s publishing house, The Open Field, “No Filter” is a collection of essays in which Porizkova, 57, covers many chapters of her life, from growing up in Czechoslovakia during the Cold War to her despair after her death 2019 A speech by her husband, The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. Other topics include the beauty industry’s obsession with youth, dealing with celebrities, mental health and reinventing yourself.

Porizkova shot to fame in 1984 when she became the first Central European woman to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Four years later, she was worth a whopping $6 million as the face of cosmetics giant Estée Lauder. Since then, Polizkova has turned to TV shows such as “Desperate Housewives,” “The World Turns,” and “Bull.” She also served as a judge on “America’s Next Top Model” from 2008 to 2009.

No Filter is not Porizkova’s first book. In 2007, she wrote her debut novel, Summer of Models, about a Swedish teenager who is brought to Paris to become captivated by the glitz and glamor of the modeling world.
