The rebranding of HBO Max, Warner Bros. Discovery Channel’s streaming platform, goes into effect today with the official launch of Max.
With Max getting all the attention on social media, other streamers took the opportunity to have their say on the rebrand.

NBCUniversal Peacock’s social media manager made a slight dig at the rebrand after HBO Max dropped the first half of its name. Peacock assures their followers and users that they will not follow suit.
“I know you are all disappointed, but I will no The first half of my name will be removed soon,” read tweet.
Peacock is a compound word referring to a male peacock, alluding to NBC’s colorful logo, which has been the network’s logo for decades.
On Instagram, social media chief amused by fan’s response afterward share their viral tweets.
One user suggested that “social media people should get a raise for this,” to which Peacock replied, “Brb send this to my boss.”
When a user asked the peacock to “live a little,” the brand responded, “My words are totally legit.”
Peacock said they made it clear they would not change the name because they felt “there was a problem”.
It was hardly the harshest blow to Max today, as many users also took to social media to express their displeasure, forcing them to download a separate app to continue enjoying the show.
Max is the fusion of HBO Max and Discovery+ announced back in April Created by David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery.
“This is a real moment for us… this is our time. This is our opportunity and anything is possible,” he said when announcing the rebrand. “I feel like, for our company, it’s our date with fate.”
