Musical tributes, as well as folk/rock, jazz and punk performances, will entertain fans at local and regional venues over the next few weeks.
On the film side, the Mahoning Drive-In Theatre will host events catering to VHS-loving crowds as well as fans of Troma Entertainment’s horror comedy.

• Leonid & Friends, July 8 at 8 p.m. Moscow, Russia-based Leonid & Friends performs Chicago music. The 11-piece band of director/founder Leonid Vorobyev has released three “Chicagovich” albums.
• Hollywood Nights – The Real Bob Seger Experience, July 16th at 8pm. The 10-piece New Jersey band includes frontman Rick Murphy, who plays music from Bob Seger and Silver Bullet.

• Session Americana, July 7 at 8 pm. The folk/rock band formed around 2004 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and included Billy Beard, Ry Cavanaugh, Dinty Child, and Jim Fitting among others. The band’s albums include “Northeast” and “Live at the Haybarn Theatre”.
• Doobie Others Band, July 8th at 8pm. The Doobie Brothers Tribute Band from Long Island consists of Pat Montefusco, Joe Torres, Jim Del, Ron Lovisa, Mike Quadrino, Ed Profet and Allan Korenstein.
• Billy Bauer Band: A Tribute to Dave Matthews, July 9th at 8pm. Formed in Bethlehem in 2006 as an acoustic duo consisting of Bauer, Chris Lorenzetti, Drew Somers and Steve Zalalas. The band’s albums include “So I Love” and “Maybe Tomorrow” and have opened for bands like Third Eye Blind, Tim Reynolds and Gin Blossoms.
• Experience Janis: The Janis Joplin Show, July 16th at 8pm. A tribute performance featuring CC Coletti featuring Joplin’s hits and in-depth edits.

• We might be right: The Billy Joel Tribute, July 16th at 7pm. The band playing the music of Billy Joel “The Pianist” consists of Karl Dietel, Perry Andrews, Derek Davodowich, Luke Kessel, Andy Janowiak and backup Jim Ruffi.

• Skyler Stabin, July 7th at 7pm. Jazz pianist, songwriter and singer Stabin from Jim Thorpe won Best Jazz Rhythm Soloist at the 2020 SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase and was selected as the SteelStacks High School Jazz All-Star Band. A junior at St. Rose College in Albany, New York, Stabin is studying audio production and engineering and is a member of the Rose Record Label Group.
• Michelle Oram, July 14th at 7pm. Singer Oram will perform with instrumentalists Paul Rostock, Skyler Stabin and Daniel Gonzalez.

• Drive-in VHS-Fest 666, July 8-9. Spam and Saturn’s Core Audio & Video join Mahoning Drive-in Theatre for the event, which includes VHS, analog media and collectibles vendors. Actress Ginger Lynn, star of 1989’s “The Book of Satan” and “Vice Academy,” will be in attendance for both evenings, hosted by Joe Pickett and Nick Pruch of The Found Footage Festival July 9 day’s special program. All films will be shown on vintage VHS tapes. ” General gates open daily at 4pm. Showtimes at sunset.
• Polar Express: Dylan & Gavin’s Rainbow Fundraiser, July 14th at 6pm. Robert Zemeckis’ 2004 animated classic “Polar Express” starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari among others. Proceeds from the event will go to Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow, which Lora and Dave Krum founded in honor of their two teenage sons battling cancer. Showtime at sunset.
• Troma-Thon 2022, July 15-17. Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of the Troma Entertainment film studio and director of many of the studio’s feature films, will participate in the three-day event. Movies scheduled for release Friday and Saturday include three “Toxic Avengers” titles and 1988’s “Battle of Troma.” Sunday will host the Tromadance 2022 Film Festival, an evening of independent films, short films and music videos selected by Troma. Doors generally open at 6pm every night. Showtime at sunset.

• Latin Fusion Music Festival, July 9th at 2pm. The Sherman Theater and the Pocono Chamber of Commerce will host the event in Courthouse Square. Celebrating the sights and sounds of Latin and Caribbean cultures, the event will include music, food and vendors.
• Circle Jerks, July 9 at 8 p.m. Formed in Los Angeles in 1979, the punk band currently consists of Black Flag co-founder and frontman Keith Morris along with Greg Hetson, Zander Schloss and Joey Castillo. The band released their sixth and most recent album “Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosity” in 1995. 7 Seconds and Negative Approach will also perform.
