The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) will collaborate with the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) on many areas of space cooperation, including research and development and the mobilization of space data for use in disaster management, emergencies, food security and agriculture. other.
PhilSA Director General Joel Joseph S. Marciano Jr. and UAESA Director General Salem Buti Al Qubaisi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Dec. 5 during the Abu Dhabi Space Debate, PhilSA said in a press release. .
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, and Ibrahim Al Qasim, Executive Director of UAESA.
“The space cooperation MOU between PhilSA and UAESA facilitates joint space research and development, capacity building, personnel exchange and space industry building,” Marciano said.
He added that the “groundbreaking agreement” between the two countries has brought the relationship between the Philippines and the UAE into an exciting new area.
“The UAE has been at the forefront of groundbreaking and ambitious space missions.
