Gasly, who made his final appearance for AlphaTauri this weekend before moving to the Alps next season, suffered another Q1 exit and will start low in 17th.

“It’s easier than the rush hour in London or Paris,” Gasly lamented. “Obviously, it’s not easy, but I think it’s the same for everyone.

“Of course, it wasn’t ideal. I didn’t make progress in the last try and wasted a lot of time in the first part, so it could have been better, but in the end, it’s the same for everyone.

“Everybody compromised and we were trying to catch up all weekend. We didn’t really manage to set up the car I wanted.

“We tried three rounds, but only a few percent [of a second short] Going into the second quarter. “

Gasly admitted he found it difficult to talk about his recent struggles with AT03.

“I try to look at it in a positive light, but I’m very competitive,” Gasly added.

“So when I get out of the car and I’m in this position, it takes me a while to swallow everything.

“For sure, last year was more fun and exciting, but at the end of the day, every time I play, I just want to do well and I’m always going to push the team forward, no matter what until the last minute.

“I’d rather leave with a slightly better qualifying session, but we have another chance tomorrow.”
