PM Sheikh Baz concludes visit, Pakistan, UAE agree to strengthen strategic partnership

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to intensify consultations and coordination to enhance strategic partnership and cooperation.

At the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif paid an official visit to the Gulf countries on 12-13 January and issued a Joint Statement.

During his third visit to the UAE after taking office, Prime Minister Sheikh Baz held a bilateral meeting with President Sheikh Mohammed, with the former holding a guard of honor ceremony at the Presidential Palace.

During the warmest and cordial meeting, the leaders of the two countries had detailed discussions on specific measures to strengthen bilateral relations, and at the same time exchanged views on regional political and security issues.

The two sides also discussed specific measures to strengthen cooperation in the fields of politics, defense, economy, commerce and culture, develop joint ventures and strengthen cooperation in the field of human resources.

The Prime Minister thanked the President of the UAE for his generous assistance during the recent floods in Pakistan, especially through the air bridge built for this purpose.

“For practical and meaningful bilateral cooperation in priority areas, both sides agreed to strengthen consultation and coordination to strengthen strategic partnership and cooperation, especially in the field of information and communication technology, and work together to bridge the digital divide,” the official statement read.

Pakistan and the UAE reaffirmed their history and fraternal relationship rooted in shared religion, culture, values ​​and pursuit of regional and global peace and security. Both sides expressed satisfaction with reaching agreement on a range of regional and global issues.

Building on decades of brotherhood, the two countries expressed solidarity in working together to safeguard their respective sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on combating human trafficking, information exchange and diplomatic academies of the two countries. Sharif also invited Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Pakistan at a later date, and the UAE leader accepted the invitation.
