Police arrest gang who were growing marijuana at residence

The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Umm Al Quwain Police General Command has arrested an Asian gang for growing marijuana plants in their residential apartments. The gang is engaged in the cultivation and trafficking of illegal drugs.

Major Jamal Saeed Al Ketbi, head of the Anti-Narcotics Division, said the department had received reports of the activities and had received sufficient intelligence on the crime. Responding quickly, a special team was formed, an ambush was carefully planned and executed, and the group was captured.

During a search of the residence, law enforcement officers discovered the Indian cannabis plant, commonly known as marijuana. Therefore, the relevant personnel and the seized drugs and related items have been handed over to the public prosecution agency for further investigation of legal responsibility.

Major Jamal Saeed Al Ketbi stressed the importance of collective efforts to combat crimes that endanger the safety of communities, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation with security authorities.

He stressed the urgent need to raise safety awareness among all members of society, warned of the serious consequences of such criminal activities, and emphasized the legal consequences for those who attempt to disturb public order and safety.

Major General Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Muallah, Commander-in-Chief of the Umm Al Quwain Police, emphasized the key role law enforcement agencies play in combating the drug menace. He commended their tireless efforts and acknowledged the importance of their services in protecting society from this serious security threat.

The Umm Al Quwain Police Command urged continued cooperation with security authorities. Individuals are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or information that may compromise security in the area. Residents can report such crimes by calling the “Mukafih” communication service at 80044 or through the Ministry of Interior’s official website, MOI.
