Jeremy Renner’s serious injuries were the result of a “tragic accident,” the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at a news conference Tuesday.
On Sunday, police released further information about the two-time Oscar nominee’s snowplowing accident near his home in Reno.
The Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol actor, 51, underwent two surgeries at a Nevada hospital after his family confirmed he “suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”
“We do not believe Mr Renner was injured at all and we believe this was a tragic accident,” Detective Superintendent Darin Balaam said.
A police spokesman said there was no “foul foul” but instead blamed “severe winter weather” in the area, revealing that the Marvel star was trying to clear his Mt. Rose home, about 25 miles outside of Reno, with his snow cat. Snow on nearby vehicles.
“According to the investigation, it was at this point that Mr Renner was knocked over by Piston Bully,” Sheriff Darin explained.
Renner also shared a selfie of himself in his hospital bed, with the caption: “Thank you all for your kind words. I’m too messed up to type right now. But I send love to you all.”
