SEPANG, September 30 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakob returned to Malaysia tonight after completing a working visit to New York and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The plane carrying the Prime Minister and his delegation arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at around 10.30pm on Thursday.
The prime minister spent four days each in New York and the UAE.
He was greeted by hundreds of people at Kuala Lumpur International Airport who praised his historic speech in their native language at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Among those present were Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka staff and representatives of the Malaysian National Writers Association (PENA), who held several placards, one of which read: “Ismail Sabri. Sabri) is the national hero who made national languages solemn on the world stage”.
At the United Nations General Assembly, which brought together more than 150 world leaders, Ismail Sabri delivered a national statement entirely in Malay – the first time a Malaysian leader has done so at the world’s largest diplomatic gathering Do.
He also touched on a variety of international issues, including conflicts in Ukraine, Myanmar and Palestine, as well as food security and climate change. — Bernama
