China has suspended imports of a range of alcoholic beverages from Taiwan, including products from the state-owned Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Company, Taiwan’s official Central News Agency reported.
Products from companies such as Legend Beer, Yunshan Brewery and Taihu Brewing are reportedly included. China has also halted imports of some other beverages, including products from Uni-President Enterprises, Taiwan’s Next Apple News website reported.

China has scaled back purchases of Taiwanese products as Beijing seeks to punish Taiwan’s elected government for strengthening ties with the United States and its allies. While food made up only a small fraction of Taiwan’s more than $328 billion in two-way trade with China last year, it is an area where Beijing could find alternative sources compared with semiconductors from Taiwan’s technologically advanced manufacturers.
After US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taipei in August, China said it would suspend some fish and fruit imports from the island.
