The Queen reportedly went “rather furious” on Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding day due to a wardrobe malfunction.
Kate and William’s star-studded wedding took place at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29 April 2011. For the romantic occasion, the entire royal family came together to celebrate the wedding of Charles’ eldest son.
According to sources, the queen took some time out of the day to get frustrated with the wardrobe malfunction.
The media completely ignores the major wardrobe malfunction. Bernard Connolly, a stylist who worked for the Queen at the time, told the Daily Mail on Sunday that the late monarch actually attended the ceremony wearing gloves.
Photos show the Queen’s glove with broken seams and a large hole in the middle finger of the white glove. This reportedly put the queen under so much pressure that she had to hide her finger for the rest of the day.
“How it wasn’t written at the time, I’ll never know. The queen went out and waved to the world with a hole in her glove — can you imagine?” Bernard Connolly told the Mail.
Bernard then explained that the little hole caused a lot of confusion in the royal family, and that the stylist didn’t lose sight of the importance of the occasion.
“You can’t do that. You don’t do it in a fashion show or a photo shoot, and you certainly don’t do it to the monarch. It’s not just an engagement, it’s a future king getting married,” Bernard said.
