We got a chance to speak with the inspiring entrepreneur Qurat Ul Ain, the founder and managing director of Drehomes Real Estate. She has a charming personality and a complete dedication to work. As a savvy salesperson right from the beginning of her career, Qurat Ul Ain started Drehomes Real Estate in 2007 with her partner Mudasir Wani who has exceptional knowledge of the real estate industry.

Qurat Ul Ain is best known for her impressive skills and attitude as a legendary sales professional. She successfully started the award-winning real estate company Drehomes and now aims to make it the best in the UAE. She has guided the company through years of growth and reaching new heights even before the “Next Normal.”

We have all heard about Qurat Ul Ain’s journey up to the present day and the impact of the pandemic on Drehomes and its future.

Qurat Ul Ain, Explain the background of you and the company in detail.

Being a successful entrepreneur doesn’t come from an overnight plan. I have faced many obstacles and setbacks that have only motivated me to push myself forward, and today I can proudly say that I am Qurat Ul Ain, the Chairperson of Drehomes.

Success doesn’t come naturally. It comes with hardships, but as we say, hard work always pays off. Drehomes is the fruit of that hard work.

A lot of work has gone into it. In 2007, I and some partners decided to start our own real estate company, Drehomes, because I felt driven to do something even better. We started the company with minimal capital but a crystal-clear vision. In my eyes, Drehomes is the reward for our dedication. It’s a testament to my efforts, along with our employees who work tirelessly to make Drehomes successful.

It’s an honour for me to be the first businesswoman in the family of entrepreneurs in Kashmir. My journey was arduous, not easy. However, I was fortunate enough to be supported by family and friends. They allowed me to pursue my passion unhindered.

If we talk about my journey, I worked hard to find my niche and build on my path. My education began at Presentation Convent School in Kashmir, followed by Delhi Public School in Delhi, and then the University of Wollongong in Duba, where I earned my Masters in Business Administration. I started slowly but steadily, and the journey was not easy. However, I still made my choices and acted on them with my dedication and insights.

Since taking off, I have never looked back. Life serves you lemons, but you can either complain about them being sour or make lemonade out of them. Working with my family and team helps me achieve my goals.

What are your goals?

For us, our goal is to be the best and most preferred real estate broker in the UAE, and for that, we will continue with our tradition to fulfil our clients’ every requirement with dedication, patience, and dignity.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?

You can list your strengths in whichever way you prefer. For me, beyond my opinionated mindset and fierce instinct, my greatest strength comes from my family and my teammates, both of whom have always supported me throughout the way with equal amounts of dedication and apprehension.

What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?

My partners and I decided to start Drehomes in 2007 with minimal capital and a crystal-clear vision of being the best real estate broker in the UAE. Little by little, working on marketing and making networks, we’ve certainly come a long way. However, we only made progress because of the dedication that turned our vision into reality.

Why did you start (or want to be the head of) this company?

Building a real estate company in a foreign country isn’t easy. To become who I am today, I faced many hardships along the way, but these obstacles helped me grow and led me to the path I am on currently.

When we started Drehomes in 2007 and had minimal capital, we were determined to be the best in the UAE. My inspiration was Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has always been ahead of his time and left an evident legacy. In addition to transforming the UAE, he ensured equality for all nationalities and genders.

Without his charisma and leadership, UAE would not be where it is today. With his knowledge of things and concern for his country, he is one of the world’s leading leaders. His vision of the UAE ultimately inspired me to go after the challenges in the real estate sector.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Challenges are what keep my life exciting and engaging. Without them, you cannot move forward. They keep you on your toes. They play an essential role in your life by channelling your efforts and directing you in the right direction.

Whether in business, family, or friendship, there are always challenges and hurdles to overcome. I have met a variety of challenges in my lifetime. It’s never easy to achieve anything substantial, and I knew from the very beginning that I would need dedication, perseverance, consistency, and tenacity. In the end, self-belief is paramount since it is the motivating factor that never leaves you.

Give us one word that describes you the best.

I would say ‘tenacious’ because you can achieve great things in life if you never give up. Despite my setbacks, I am always motivated to do more, and there is a strong will inside of me that says, ‘I am going to achieve it.’

What makes you excited about Mondays?

For me, working is not just any other endeavor. My work is vital to me, and that’s why I look forward to Monday mornings, where I can see everyone’s cheerful faces ready for the week.

What do you value most about your culture and vision?

Our company has a dynamic culture, which contributes to its vision. Moreover, being in a city that never sleeps and always has something new to offer has been vital to my growth. Our vision is to be the most preferred real estate brokerage in the UAE, and we will certainly achieve it.

Tell us about a project that forced you to be innovative and creative.

I would say that the way real estate used to work years ago isn’t the same anymore. The world is seeing one of the most significant transitions ever. This global transition post-covid period enabled us to push forward and learn to adapt to the changes around us. It may seem cliché, but we spend our time working, brainstorming ideas, and most importantly, living. Our creativity has helped solve our clients’ problems, and it continues to do so.

What are your company’s strategies, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?

Each business is unique in its way, and Drehomes is no exception. We strive to achieve client satisfaction as our foremost mission. The key to providing exceptional services to our clients is our teamwork. We ensure that the committed task is getting functioned at any given time.

We let people understand the culture so that they make the right choice. Understanding the client’s requirement and then curating solutions based on that ethos keeps us moving towards the path of success. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to support change for better results and our complete dedication to helping our clients.

What are the key values that helped you overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career? Tell us something about your memorable incident in your leadership?

The answer to the question is patience since a calm mind can help you overcome any challenge. It’s because a clear mind can better understand any situation and help you gain insight into it. Nevertheless, patience alone is not enough. We were also able to overcome many roadblocks through persistence, adaptability, and creative thinking.

Our first challenge as a real estate company was starting up in a foreign land. We had to face hurdles and tackle obstacles to get where we are today.

In addition to that, we have to focus on lots of projects all the time. From managing growth to looking after projects and executing them with our best – all of it while managing our other developments certainly was complicated.

Keeping up with rapidly changing technology is also essential. Unless we have the infrastructure to deal with changes in technology, we won’t be prepared to anticipate where technology can take us. The key to success lies in our ability to adapt to any obstacle that comes our way. We come up with ideas and stay persistent on being the best throughout all times.

Qurat Ul Ain , How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?

If you want to reach your dreams, you shouldn’t be afraid of transitions. It’s a vital part of our lives. You can see changes everywhere, and it is important to me to create that change. I am confident that Drehomes will have a profound effect in two years from now. Offering our clients the most comfortable and luxurious life is our main motive.

We will be coming up with dazzling projects in the coming future. Together with my team, I will continue to work hard and lead Drehomes to success in the future.
