Released Palestinian prisoners have repeatedly been denied entry to Gaza | News

After six years in prison, Nisreen Abu Kmail was denied entry to Gaza by Israel to reunite with his family for several days.

Erez Crossing, Gaza— The Israeli authorities banned the entry of Palestinian prisoners who were released last Sunday for the third consecutive day.

After six years in jail, Nisreen Abu Kmail was denied permission to enter Gaza to reunite with his family because of his “Israeli ID Blue Card”.

Abu Kmail, 46, originally came from Haifa in the occupied territories in 1948. He has an Israeli ID card, but has been married to a Palestinian in Gaza for 20 years.

After being released from Al Damon prison, Abu Kmail went directly to the Erez border crossing into Gaza. However, she was barred from entering the country because she did not have the required entry permit and was forced to stay in Hebron ever since.

Earlier on Tuesday, Abu Kemail happily told Al Jazeera on the phone that she was told that the Israelis would allow her to enter Gaza and that she was heading directly to the border crossing.

On the Palestinian side of Erez Crossing, Abu Kmail’s family-including her seven children-gathered together again, hoping to welcome her for the third consecutive day.

But after waiting for several hours, Abu Kemeier was told that she would not be allowed to enter Gaza because she had to pay “economic bail” first.

‘Playing with children’s feelings’

Nisreen’s husband, 50 years old Hazem Abu Kmail expressed his anger to Al Jazeera The treatment of his wife but the Israeli authorities.

“In the beginning, Israel said she could not enter with an Israeli ID card. Then we were told that she had obtained a permit, but had to sign a promise to prohibit her from leaving Gaza within two years,” he said.

“This morning, my wife was told again that she was allowed to enter, but once she reached the border crossing, she found out that she had to’pay’ about 4,000 shekels in bail. [$1,245] Let her in. “

Hazem Abu Kmail accused the Israeli occupation of “playing with his children’s feelings” because it was the third consecutive day that his wife was prevented from entering Gaza.

He said: “We have suffered more in these days than we have seen in the past six years.” “My children and I are very eager to see her.”

‘Deep shock and sadness’

17-year-old Amira Abu Kmail, Nisreen’s eldest daughter, burst into tears when she heard that her mother was denied entry again.

“We are deeply shocked and sad,” she said. “My brothers and sisters and I waited impatiently for six years. She was only a few hours away from here, and we couldn’t see her because the Israelis prevented her from entering.”

Amila, who took care of her siblings during her mother’s absence, told Al Jazeera that she was happy at the beginning of the day and thought of their reunion.

“I’m imagining the moment I hugged her. It’s not fair to experience this situation for the third time,” she said.

The Israeli authorities detained Abu Kmail on October 12, 2015 after she left the Beit Hanoun-Erez border crossing.

According to her family, Abu Kemer was charged with “espionage” for filming a video of her last visit to Haifa Port during her last visit to Haifa Port in 2014. An Israeli court sentenced her to six years in prison on October 20, 2018, and served her sentence while serving her sentence.

Her family called the allegations against Abu Kmail “false.”
