Following his first victory of the 2023 season at the UAE Tour Championship last week, remco avonpool is heading to high altitudes as his preparation trip to italy Bidding begins.
After 14 days at the Vuelta a San Juan and the UAE Tour, today’s world champion will fly to Tenerife and Mount Teide to start the next step of his early season.He will stay in training camp until Return to Catalonia March 20.
Evenepoel will join in the Canary Islands Sudar trot teammates, new signings Jane HurtAnd Louis Vervaeke, who made his Grand Tour debut at the Giro alongside the 23-year-old two years ago.
Team coach Koen Pelgrim will also be at the camp, as will a sommelier and mechanic as the team gets serious about preparing for the Giro d’Italia.
The group will stay at the Hotel Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide on the hill. This is a popular destination for groups. Giant Wisma are famous tourists who have used their stay at altitude to great effect this winter and credit the recent training camp there opening weekend success.
Evenepoel’s next appointment will be in Catalonia, where he will make his debut and complete three summits in Vallter, La Molina and Lo Port.Another high-altitude trip will take place before returning to Belgium for Brabantse Pijl and his family Liege – Bastogne – Liege title defense.
“I think I can really be proud. This is the first time I want to do well at GC,” evenepoel said It was his 11th career stage win after winning the UAE Tour.
“I’m not at high altitude yet, I’ll be there in a few days, so I can only improve. It’s just good signs and we have to keep going like this.
“Yes, I think so,” he added when asked if he was on the right track at the Giro d’Italia in May. “As I said, without height and concrete work, I think there are many more improvements that are possible, so everything is fine for now.
