A $50,000 (£43,000) reward has been offered for information on the case of a Tennessee woman whose family was kidnapped and forced into a car while jogging near the University of Memphis campus, police said.

Memphis police said Eliza Fletcher, 34, was last seen at 4.20am local time on Friday (10.20am BST on Friday).

Police said she was jogging when a man approached her and forced her into dark GMC terrain after a brief struggle.

Authorities said Ms Fletcher was reported missing when she did not return home after a morning run, and her mobile phone and water bottle were found in front of a house owned by the university.

On Friday night, the woman’s family offered a reward via Crime Stoppers for leads to arrest anyone responsible for her disappearance.

Ms Fletcher’s family said: “We look forward to the safe return of Eliza and hope this award will help police catch the perpetrator of this crime.”

According to the news outlet, Fletcher is the granddaughter of the late Memphis hardware businessman and philanthropist Joseph “Joe” Ogier III.

The mother-of-two is described as 5ft 6in tall with brown hair and green eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink jogging top and purple running shorts.

Memphis police said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the FBI were asked to assist in the investigation.

According to news outlets, police searched the area where she was kidnapped and her home, looking for clues and gathering evidence.

Authorities left her home with a laptop and garden shears and towed a cream-colored Jeep Wagoneer, WMC-TV reported.
