Rotana strengthens sustainable offerings across hotels

Rotana Hotels, one of the region’s leading hotel management companies with more than 100 hotels in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Turkey, is strengthening its commitment to reducing its impact on climate change.

With the region set to host the year’s largest climate change conference, COP28, in Dubai Expo City in November 2023, the hotel group has implemented enhanced sustainability offerings at its hotels in the UAE and beyond.

In line with the conference’s mission to discuss practical and ambitious solutions and track progress towards the most pressing global challenges, Rotana actively strives to do its part and remains committed to reducing energy and water consumption, adopting clean technologies and optimizing Operational efficiency.

As part of ‘Rotana Earth’, its global corporate sustainability platform, the group has increased recycled material by 8%, reduced landfill waste to 17% and reduced electricity consumption by 8%. To further promote environmental awareness, Rotana has also appointed Alexander Ghorayeb Youth Sustainability Ambassador, a 17-year-old who shares the group’s passion for driving change and inspiring a sustainable future.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. As we continue to expand in the region, we want to ensure our guests experience sustainable, high-quality products and an unrivaled experience,” said Rotana President and CEO Guy Hutchinson said.

“We are excited to set a new precedent on our net-zero emissions journey in line with the vision of COP28, reaffirming our commitment to creating concrete change and encouraging others to join this journey. Our partnership with Alexander will enable us to Bring awareness to younger generations and drive change while working together towards a greener, cleaner future.”

Among other initiatives, Rotana has implemented new sustainable and locally sourced breakfast products at its hotels in the UAE. From now on, guests will be able to enjoy a hearty breakfast from a local organic farm.

With guests’ health and well-being in mind, the new breakfast brings farm-fresh produce to the table, including a new salad and vegetable corner, free-range eggs from the UAE, and an extensive breakfast selection. Vegetarian items.
