Abu Dhabi: UAE low-cost carrier Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is currently launching flights to the Indian subcontinent through the normal regulatory process, according to local media reports.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will soon join the list of airlines serving the very busy and lucrative India-UAE route.
Johan Eidhagen, general manager of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, said discussions are underway to expand its services to the Indian subcontinent.
Johan Eidhagen told Khaleej Times: “If we enter that market, we will be very excited because we are currently going through the normal regulatory process and we will be able to announce the route once it closes.”
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is known for its discounted airfares from AED 179 (Rs 3,984). Once approved to start operating, the airline will offer super-cheap tickets and other deep discounts similar to those on routes to India.
In 2022, 1.2 million passengers will fly with Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.
The goal is to increase the number of passengers to more than 2 million by 2023. Currently, Wizz Air operates a flight to Abu Dhabi every three to four days. The company aims to bring this to every day of the week.
