They also place high priority on significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in line with recommendations from the Paris climate summit. Year-round sunny climates make solar an obvious choice for developing renewable energy systems; Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE are investing heavily in infrastructure to attract local and foreign private sector investors.
He pointed out that Africa has 60% of the world’s solar energy resources, but there are still nearly 800 million Africans living without electricity, so African countries have the opportunity to become huge market players and seize its untapped potential. This limits people’s ability to access information, education and medical services.
