The UAE Vice-President inaugurated Gitex Global, the world’s largest tech event that began on Monday. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai is a regular attendee. He toured the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), engaged with officials and exhibitors, and explored the latest tech solutions, drawing a crowd of eager visitors eager to take photos with him. Among the booths he visited were those of Etisalat, Huawei, Beyon, Salesforce, Microsoft, and IBM.
Sheikh Mohammed shared his visit’s highlights, emphasizing how Gitex’s rapid growth parallels Dubai’s own trajectory, bringing together innovative minds from around the world. This year marks Gitex’s 43rd edition, with a 40% increase in size compared to the previous event, featuring over 6,000 exhibitors showcasing the latest AI, cloud, Web 3.0, cyber security, climate tech, urbanism, and more across 2.7 million square feet of exhibition space.
The event’s theme, ‘The Year to Imagine AI in Everything,’ spotlights AI’s dominance, with companies and authorities exploring its applications in various fields, from policing to drone delivery, immigration, and retail. Over 1,000 AI-focused companies are showcasing tech’s potential.
Gitex will also host Gitex Cyber Valley, the year’s most significant cybersecurity event, uniting leading brands and experts to address the challenges and opportunities of safeguarding digital assets and infrastructure in the AI era.
