Vice President delivers keynote speech at Arab League summit in Algeria

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, confirmed on Wednesday that the UAE plays a prominent role in addressing major challenges at the regional and international levels.

“The UAE’s choice is to promote the slogan of ‘Peace, Recovery and Prosperity’ based on the rules of international law and to cooperate in the fields of economy, sustainable development, advanced technology and scientific research to overcome challenges and confront existing threats” Sheikh Mohammed Speaking at the 31st Arab League Summit in Algeria.

He said the UAE prioritizes the peaceful resolution of conflicts, humanitarian relief, maintaining peace and tackling global health crises in a spirit of solidarity, supporting the empowerment of women, emphasizing the role of youth in nation-building, harnessing the potential of innovation and advanced technologies, and developing International system to combat extremism and terrorism.

“Given the unprecedented challenges faced by Arab countries, we urgently need to step up our work to accelerate the pace of Arab coordination and cooperation to resolve regional crises and spread hope, optimism, solidarity, peace and tolerance. These values ​​are from the father of the nation, the late Sheikh.​​​​ This has been the foundation of the UAE’s approach since the days of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his founding brothers.

“The UAE has played a prominent role in addressing key challenges ahead of us by successfully hosting Expo 2020 Dubai, currently serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2022-2023, and the planned COP28 meeting. We are at the regional and international level ,”He says.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE is keen to continue its commitment to building a knowledge-based and diversified economy based on technological advancements and strengthening economic and development partnerships in the region.

“Today, we are witnessing the emergence of a progressive society in the Middle East, which will be the backbone of joint action around key global priorities, as the UAE moves rapidly to improve its competitiveness and economic sustainability, and explore new opportunities .

“We strive to make our country a global capital of investment and economic and cultural innovation. The UAE has also launched a series of strategic projects and initiatives aimed at building internal and external growth and powering investments in the digital and circular economy as labor-based sectors of intelligence and the fourth industrial revolution,” he said.

He said there was no doubt that climate change had become a top priority for all, as it had become an existential threat that required everyone to work quickly to achieve a carbon-free future.

“In this regard, the UAE has announced its goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050. The UAE is preparing to participate in the COP27 meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh, while preparing to host COP28 in 2023 to promote climate diplomacy and combat climate change. “

“We firmly believe that the challenges and threats facing the Arab region and the world can only be overcome through solidarity and cooperation at the regional and international levels, adherence to tolerance, equality, moderation, flexibility and giving, involving all nations. the course of history,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
