The concert, titled ‘Singing for the Children of Zayed,’ unfolded at Burjeel Medical City’s circular atrium, where the Firdaus Orchestra paid homage to the visionary leader’s belief that children are the true wealth and strength of the nation.
Musical Magic Unveils Sheikh Zayed’s Portrait
As the all-female orchestra commenced the evening with the national anthem ‘Ishy Bilady,’ a giant glass pendulum in the atrium artistically created a portrait of Sheikh Zayed. Guided by conductor Monica Woodman, the orchestra’s performance captivated patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors across two floors of the hospital.

Mentored by AR Rahman and supported by Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Firdaus Orchestra is recognized as an original entity from Expo City, Dubai, and stands as a source of pride for the UAE.
A Melodic Journey: Specially Curated Songs Echo Through the Atrium
Following the national anthem, the orchestra treated the audience to a specially curated list of songs, including Danse, Baroque Flamenco, Ouarzazate, Ecstasy of Gold, and Spirit of Rangeela.
Healing Harmony Amid Challenges
The diverse and talented musicians created a healing experience through their mesmerizing performance, offering solace and inspiration amid challenging times. Patients, including teenager Omar recovering from the Syrian earthquake, found comfort in the patriotic fervor of the music.
A Song of Hope: Rahman’s Upcoming Collaboration with Burjeel Holdings
On the sidelines, AR Rahman announced an upcoming song, a collaborative effort with Burjeel Holdings, dedicated to the UAE. The song aims to bring hope, peace, understanding, and joy, honoring those selflessly working, with Rahman expressing his prayers for the healing of all in the hospital.
A Glowing Tribute: Sheikh Zayed’s Golden Portrait Concludes the Concert
As the concert concluded, a glowing golden portrait of Sheikh Zayed stood complete, symbolizing the unity and resilience of the nation. Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, founder and chairman of Burjeel Holdings, expressed gratitude, acknowledging the chance to serve the people and honoring the heroes and martyrs of the country’s battle against Covid-19.
