Mary Taylor, a much-loved British runner from Silsden, UK, moved to Dubai in November to work as a hairdresser. On Christmas Day, she posted in a Silsden Facebook group, “Soon, I’ll be home for my annual Easter egg hunt.” Sadly, she won’t.

The 40-year-old passed away. According to the BBC, Mary has become known for cheering on her community during the pandemic by conducting costume runs in her village.

Since her death was announced, condolences have poured in from her community, with many posting videos of Mary dancing outside her window.

The BBC report quoted her sister, Joanne Edwards, as saying she was “absolutely shocked and devastated” and that her death was “completely unexpected”.

She added: “Words cannot express how broken we all feel at the moment.”

“We’re still waiting for information from the Dubai authorities. We don’t know anything. We just think it’s just natural causes,” Edwards said in the BBC’s report, adding that Mary will be remembered for her fun at the tin. Ersten runs.

Following the news of her death, UK MP Robbie Moore posted his tribute to Mary on his Facebook page:

“What devastating news. I am so saddened to hear the terrible news that Mary Bear Taylor from Silsden has passed away in Dubai just a few months ago after she moved there to work as a hairdresser. Running around Silsden for 100 days, wearing all kinds of outlandish outfits and making national headlines. I know Mary loves Silsden and is passionate about her town. Through her enthusiasm, energy and commitment to Silsden, Mary has helped lift the The spirit of the people, putting a smile on everyone’s faces, especially during the difficult days of the pandemic, she has also raised thousands of pounds for Airedale Hospital. Back in July 2020, Mary was recognized as the One of Stearns’ unsung heroes. My heart goes out to Mary’s family, friends and everyone who knew and loved Mary at this very difficult time.”

On her 39th birthday in 2021, the West Yorkshire village celebrated the local running celebrity by donning fancy dress themselves. At the time, Mary said: “It was probably one of the best days of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever have a birthday like this again.”

A spokesman for the British embassy said: “We are providing assistance to the family of a British woman who died in Dubai.”
