Signature entertainment Granted British and Irish rights to supernatural horror”pioneer” from MPI.
The film is produced by Jay Dunn (“The Witch in the Window”), Richard W. King (“We Move On”) and Andy Mitton (“Yellow Brick Road”), who also acted as director and screenwriter. It stars Gabby Beans (“House of Cards”), Emily Davis (“Plagiarists”) and Raymond Anthony Thomas (“Shutter Island”).

The New York-based film sees Monique (Beanes) reluctantly break out of quarantine during a pandemic to care for her friend Mavis (Davis), who is haunted by horrific nightmares bothered by. Monique soon learns that dreams are contagious and originate from a diabolical, reality-bending force known as the Harbinger. Monique and Mavis must find a way to defeat this malevolent entity before it completely consumes their souls.
The film was selected for the Canadian Fantasia International Film Festival, the UK FrightFest and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. It won Best Thriller at the UK’s Grimmfest International Fantastic Film Festival.
“Unlike many films that contain COVID-enforced conditions, this one goes beyond obvious gimmicks to make the pandemic a key, organic plot element, under which the central ghoul is said to thrive dating back to medieval times. Plague times,” said type critic dennis harvey His review of the movie.
The deal was negotiated by Katie Wilkinson, Head of Acquisitions and Development at Signature, and Nicola Goelzhaeuser, Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions at MPI. A digital HD release is scheduled for January 23, 2023. XYZ Films released the film in the United States in September.
Wilkinson said: “We were very impressed when the FrightFest team introduced us to ‘The Harbinger’, so we are delighted to have reached a deal with the lovely MPI team. The chill and building fears really come to the fore. Definitely something to watch out for in January.”
Goelzhaeuser added: “We are delighted to be working with the fantastic team at Signature on this gripping supernatural thriller. The living nightmare portrayed in ‘The Trailblazers’ will pull you in until its satisfying conclusion. you left.”
