Sir Tim Clark to Discuss Middle East Aviation Developments at ATM

[ad_1]

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, will take part in an in-depth discussion on the global stage of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) from 1-4 May.

In conversation with JLS Consulting Director John Strickland, Sir Tim will reflect on Emirates’ long-term strategy as it ramps up aircraft deliveries from 2024, while balancing growth and broader issues of tackling climate change.

The news comes amid reports of significant progress in the Middle East aviation industry, which will almost double year-on-year passenger traffic in January 2023, according to data released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This growth is particularly pronounced in the UAE, with Dubai International Airport (DXB) handling more than 66 million passengers in 2022, an increase of 127% over the previous year.

In the longer term, analysts at Mordor Intelligence forecast the Middle East aviation market to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 6% over the period 2022-27, implying that passenger traffic in the region is likely to continue rising for the foreseeable future .

Danielle Curtis, ME Exhibition Director, Arabian Travel Market, said: “It is encouraging to see air traffic in the Middle East starting to soar again, especially after the turbulent period during and after the global pandemic.

“We look forward to welcoming Sir Tim to our global stage for the 30th edition of ATM,” Curtis added. “Emirates is firmly established as an innovative trailblazer in the global aviation industry, so I can’t wait to hear how Sir Tim and his colleagues are working to build a sustainable aviation industry for the future.”

Gulf Air’s leading role in decarbonizing the aviation industry will be a key focus of an upcoming ATM edition. Earlier this year, Emirates announced that one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft had successfully completed a demonstration flight powered by 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has partnered with net-zero carbon solutions specialist World Energy as part of a long-term strategic partnership that will see significant reductions in emissions.

The 30th ATM will feature an in-depth session dedicated to air travel on the second day. After Emirates’ return to growth: Emirates President discusses with John Strickland, experts from Boeing, Etihad and SimpliFlying will gather on the global stage at ATM to discuss the net-zero future of aviation. In addition to Emirates and Etihad, a number of regional airlines will also be participating in ATM 2023, including flydubai, flynas, Saudia, airport services and air transport company Saudia, and Cham Wings.

ATM 2023 expects aviation industry participation and exhibition space to grow by 7.5% year-on-year, building on the excellent participation witnessed at last year’s show. On a wider level, the conference will explore the future of sustainable tourism under its theme “Towards Net Zero Emissions”. Following the official launch of the Net Zero Tour, the conference program will explore how innovative sustainable travel trends may evolve, allowing delegates to identify growth strategies for key verticals, while providing a platform for regional experts to explore a sustainable future ahead of COP28, It will be held in Dubai Expo City in November 2023.

The conference will also, for the first time, include a sustainability category in its annual exhibitor awards. Exhibiting organizations will be recognized based on how well they consider the environmental impact of their booth and their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.

ATM 2023 is co-hosted with Dubai World Trade Center with strategic partners including Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) as Destination Partner, Emirates as Official Airline Partner, IHG Hotels & Resorts as Official Hotel Partner And Al Rais Travel as official DMC partner. – trade arab news agency
