Solar PV Roof at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi – Environment

[ad_1]

Naples – Seaworld Abu Dhabi, a theme park under construction in the United Arab Emirates, is building a rooftop solar photovoltaic system project. Local newspaper The National reported that this was the result of an agreement between Abu Dhabi Masdar Clean Energy and national utility EDF. The photovoltaic system is part of an agreement signed by the two companies and will generate 8.2 megawatts of electricity.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, due to be completed by the end of this year, will have the world’s largest aquarium, housing some 68,000 marine animals.

Mohamed Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said: “The deployment of the new solar system is in line with our progress in making further use of sustainable resource capabilities during development.” The use of solar energy in the UAE continues to grow, and in October last year the UAE announced its net The Zero 2050 Strategic Plan, which calls for a $163 billion investment in clean and renewable energy over the next 30 years. In addition to Sea World, planned initiatives include a new solar project in Abu Dhabi’s Al Ajban area, for which Emirates Hydro invited companies to submit expressions of interest.

The new solar project aims to be one of the largest solar projects in the world, with a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts. Overall, the UAE is home to two of the world’s top solar power plants, including the 5,000 MW Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park in Dubai and the planned Al Dharfra Solar Park in Abu Dhabi.
