Abu Dhabi: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is proud to announce the official launch of its Institute, a pioneering initiative to standardize and structure research activities while fostering collaboration and attracting international researchers. The inauguration took place in the presence of distinguished personalities, including Professor Guillaume Fiquet, Vice-Rector of the Sorbonne University for International Relations and Economic Partnerships, Professor Silvia Serrano, Vice-Rector of the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, and Christopher Cripps, Senior Advisor of the Sorbonne gentlemen. The Sorbonne Abu Dhabi Institute was established with a clear vision to promote academic excellence, strengthen research capabilities and contribute to the development of the United Arab Emirates. By integrating research efforts, the Institute aims to enhance collaboration, encourage interdisciplinary research and attract top international researchers, faculty and students.
The research activities of the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi will be carried out through the Institute, which is closely integrated with the Paris-Sorbonne Institute. Drawing on the areas of excellence of Paris-Sorbonne University and the expertise of Abu Dhabi research professors, the Institute will research topics of local and regional context importance.
The Institute at the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi consists of four research centers: Artificial Intelligence, Gulf Studies, Heritage Studies and Environmental Studies. Each center has a range of research activities designed to develop and explore topics relevant to its respective field.

The Sorbonne University was established in May 2006 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and licensed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) .
