South Asian women in entertainment unite to celebrate major award nominations, plan moves forward – Deadline

A celebration of the achievements of South Asian women was held in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, galvanizing the community to advance in entertainment and creating space for “mainstream triumphs.”

South Asian communities have particular struggles, including flouting religious and social norms and traditions, transphobia, and sometimes government interference in their home countries.

When we get to know each other, we can work together and build a larger network to make an impact and move forward.”

2023 Academy Award nominee Lena Khan added: “I’m now working on a film that finally breaks down stereotypes and embraces the South Asians who really exist among us.” Strangers at the door. “We don’t want to pander to the masses, but we’re honing our talents, supporting each other, and creating our own opportunities, personas, and images with our industry allies.
