TUCSON, AZ (KGUN) — Ice in the desert has been a major concern in the Mosaic District. Complex will house IcePlex for University of Arizona hockey, youth and adult leagues and other types of fun on ice.
The scheme includes a stadium, an arena, plaza, restaurant and hotel – making it a diverse community gathering place that goes beyond sports.
The buildings are designed to accommodate a variety of sporting, recreational and community events.Find out what the community wants to see this quarter at Mosaic Zone website. You can vote via this link:

The Mosaic Quarter aims to be a job and economic winner, building a business on the site and potentially attracting surrounding businesses to serve the customers that the quarter brings.
Frank Knott, developer of Mosaic Quarter, said, “In our tourism campaign, restaurants, grocery stores, bars, local retailers, entertainment attractions generate a lot of local consumption, and we intentionally push all this traffic off-site so that we can A way of impacting local communities in a way that we’re not trying to keep all the development for ourselves.”
“As long as it’s improved and it’s not broken, I’m for it,” Willie Blake said.
We met Willie Black at the park named after him. He is a longtime community activist and president of the West Hills Neighborhood Association – the neighborhood closest to the development. He said Mosaic Quarter’s commitment to work and community sounded good to him.
“Again, as long as it’s community friendly, as long as you share your work with the community next to you; whatever you do, keep the community in mind, and then I support it. Better life for you knowing, for the individual living in his area . Don’t just come to the area and do something, you take the benefits and you walk away.”
The Mosaic Quarter will open in phases, with the Iceplex opening in about two years.
