Sri Lanka decided on Wednesday to stop issuing Covid-19 vaccination certificates to travelers entering the island nation, officials said.
Health Services Director-General Asela Gunawardena said travelers to Sri Lanka will not be subject to mandatory Covid-19 restrictions following the lifting of the circular issued for 2021.
Therefore, from Wednesday, the mandatory requirement to present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate to enter the country will no longer be required.
The mandatory pre-board or negative Covid-19 test (PCR/Rapid Antigen Test) (RAT) for anyone arriving in Sri Lanka from overseas was also lifted from Wednesday.
Any foreigner who tests positive for Covid-19 upon arrival in Sri Lanka must be quarantined in a private hospital/hotel/residence for 7 days.
Sri Lanka will require a negative Covid-19 test and proof of vaccination when it opens its borders to foreign arrivals amid the Covid crisis in 2021.
