Standard Chartered Crypto Trading UAE Launches Bitcoin and Ether Service
Standard Chartered has launched Standard Chartered crypto trading UAE services for institutional clients, allowing eligible customers to trade Bitcoin and Ether in the country.
The bank announced the move on September 3, 2026. The new service is being offered through its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) operation. Standard Chartered said it is the first global systemically important bank to provide institutional spot crypto trading in the UAE.
The service allows eligible institutional clients to buy and sell deliverable Bitcoin and Ether through Standard Chartered’s electronic trading channels.
The bank has also connected the crypto service to platforms that clients already use for foreign exchange trading. This means institutional customers can access the crypto market through familiar banking systems.
The launch builds on Standard Chartered’s existing digital-asset business in the UAE. The bank started offering digital-asset custody services in the country in 2024. Clients using the new trading service can also choose their preferred custodian for settling trades, including Standard Chartered’s own digital-asset custody service.
For clarity, the new service is not aimed at everyday retail customers. It is designed for eligible institutional clients, such as professional investors and other large financial or corporate customers.
Standard Chartered first introduced institutional Bitcoin and Ether spot trading through its UK branch in July 2025. The UAE launch now brings the same type of service to the bank’s institutional clients in the Gulf market.
The move adds another major banking name to the UAE’s growing digital-asset sector. It also shows how traditional banks are increasingly building regulated services around cryptocurrencies while demand from institutional investors continues to develop.
