Steiner wants Miami-like entertainment for classic ‘cookie-cutter’ F1 race

While the argument sounds blunt, he has very sound reasoning. There’s nothing wrong with being a little rowdy on race weekend, but it has to be genuinely fun, not silly.when speaking motorsports.com, Steiner clearly explained why he wanted more entertainment.

“I think the entertainment here is a lot better than it used to be,” Steiner said. “In the old days, we raced, cookie cutter races. We raced one race, we raced the next race, we didn’t do anything. We raced for the racing fans.” He further explained that he was in North Carolina His life experience allowed him to experience American culture. “People want constant entertainment, not just sitting there waiting three hours until the next car pulls out. They want to do something, consume something.”

Steiner thought it wouldn’t hurt to spice up some classic races with more non-racing related activities. He’s not wrong, Americans do like value for money, and especially like not being boring. The same applies to European races and helps boost attendance at classic circuits such as Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone.

Speaking from personal experience as a racing fan, F1 racing does offer a lot of money for a lot less. A typical IMSA, NASCAR or Indycar race offers fans wide access, plenty of general entry areas, paddock passes and pit passes for easy purchase. F1 races are only Race, with almost nowhere to go, and zero access to the paddock without very expensive passes.

Instead of spending money on stupid driver referrals, give people more money. American motorsports is very open and welcoming to fans. However, F1 has always balanced exclusivity as a major leverage point. Either way, I think Steiner has a point. It’s whether F1 can implement it in a way worthy of a top sport.
