(CNN) Actress Stella Stevens died Friday due to She died of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 84, and she starred in a string of films in the 1960s and ’70s, including “The Mad Professor” and “The Adventures of Poseidon.”

She “has been in hospice care for a long time with stage seven Alzheimer’s,” her son told CNN.
“Alzheimer’s is an insidious disease that affected not only my mother, but my grandmother and great-grandmother. Hopefully my mother’s work will be celebrated for her work with some of the greatest icons in the entertainment industry To be remembered,” Andrew Stevens said.
His mother had more than 200 roles in film and television, according to her obituary at the Golden Globes, which honored her with Rising Star of the Year in 1960 after she starred with Bing Crosby and Debbie Reynolds in “Speak For Me” One” debuted.
Her best-known roles came in 1963’s The Mad Professor with Jerry Lewis and 1972’s Poseidon, in which she was promoted to a role starring Gene Hackman and Ernes Part of an “all-star cast” led by Ter Borgnine.
Her other films include “Girls! Girls! Girls!” with Elvis Presley. After her film career, she landed many TV roles in such shows as “Police Story”, “The Love Boat”, “Flamingo Way” and more.
Stella Stevens is survived by her only son and three grown grandchildren.
