ABU DHABI, 15th January, 2023 (WAM) — The festival at Masdar City, a community event for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, will return to Masdar City from 20th to 22nd January, from 10am to 10pm podium
Everyone in the UAE is invited to Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban community to learn about sustainable development through a series of fun, family-friendly and educational activities.
The festival at Masdar City capped off Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, during which Masdar City showcased groundbreaking sustainable technologies from a host of local and international start-ups and businesses.
At this year’s ADSW, 22 companies will be participating in Masdar City’s innovation platform, a global initiative that offers small and medium-sized companies the opportunity to present themselves to potential investors and corporate decision makers.
“Masdar City is committed to showing the world what urban sustainability is all about,” said Mohamed Al Breiki, Executive Director, Sustainable Real Estate. We will raise awareness in our community as we welcome thousands of visitors to the podium in Masdar City for a long weekend of enjoyable family fun with sustainability at its core. “
“We are especially excited to host The Festival again at Masdar City, where the UAE will host COP28 in November,” added Al Breiki. “There’s never been a better time to learn about sustainability.”
Visitors to the Masdar City podium will be able to learn about and participate in a range of sustainability activities, including sustainable gardening and science experiments in a series of workshops sponsored by the festival’s innovation partner TAQA.
They can even build their own projects using upcycled materials in a dedicated craft area.
The festival’s main stage will feature a dedicated street performance area, a photography area adorned with stunning sustainable installations, a gaming area, an arts and crafts area and live music in a theatrical performance area.
The recently opened Blossom Nursery in Masdar City will also offer a supervised toddler area.
Eco-friendly products will be on sale in the purpose-built retail area, along with a delicious selection of food and snacks, not to mention thirst-quenching drinks.
PepsiCo’s Aquafina brand, the festival’s official water partner, will sell nano-filtered still and sparkling water, as well as a variety of flavored waters from specially installed water stations.
At these stops, visitors will be able to purchase reusable water bottles or refill themselves, while choosing the temperature, level of carbonation and flavor intensity of the drink.
