Two people were injured in the attack, local authorities wrote on Telegram, hitting commercial businesses and a warehouse owned by a religious organization.

Tvorchi said this week that they want to draw attention to their country’s fight for freedom.

Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra won last year’s competition with strong support from across Europe.


Under the slogan ‘United by music’, this year’s song competition will fuse the soul of Liverpool with the spirit of war-torn Ukraine. Liverpool is the English port city where the Beatles were born.

The sights and sounds of Ukraine are featured throughout the show, which begins with an opening film showing the 2022 winners, the Kalush Orchestra, singing and dancing in the Kiev subway, as British musicians – including Kate, Princess of Wales – play the bullet piano.

The folk rap band itself appeared on stage at the Liverpool Arena, with huge hands outstretched, accompanied by a slew of drummers.

Liverpool has embraced Eurovision and Ukraine, with Ukrainian flags flying from businesses across the city and a host of cultural events introducing locals to the Eastern European nation’s art, music and food.

But organizers said they rejected a request by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make a video address for the song contest, citing the apolitical nature of the show.

The global television audience is estimated at 160 million.
